Copywriter

This is a part-time, contract position.

Yeah, so, umm, you got any more of those words? We're pretty good at visual storytelling but sometimes we need to tell a client's story with actual words. And we need an actual storyteller to do that. Our ideal candidate is a full-time freelancer who is available during business hours.

Yeah, so, umm, you got any more of those words?

Job responsibilities

Produce a wide range of content including web pages, think pieces, interviews, case studies, blog posts, emails, and more. Responsibilities will vary from project to project and client to client so flexibility and the ability to manage your own schedule will be huge strengths. Specifically:

  • Write magical copy (we do bill ourselves as "the magical design agency," after all)
  • Tell compelling stories
  • Interview clients (and sometimes their clients)
  • Work with remote team members
  • Grok clients' style guides

Requirements

  • Great at writing marketing copy
  • Strong technical writing chops (you don't have to be technical but you need to be able to translate technical information into content readable by ordinary humans)
  • Incredibly well-organized
  • Good interviewing skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Strong communication skills — including verbal
  • At least three years professional experience
  • Samples of your work

Nice-to-haves

I once found out a copywriter on our team was an amazing illustrator after working together for years. Like, seriously, WTH? We're a creative team doing a variety of things for a variety of clients. Maybe you write scripts or you're really into pyrography. You do metal-smithing on the weekends. Whatever your other skills are, let us know! Some very work-focused nice-to-haves include:

  • Experience working with a creative team
  • Experience working with startups
  • Prior experience conducting interviews

Ready to apply?

If you are an individual in the U.S. or Canada, we’d love to hear from you.

Candidates must be in the U.S., Mexico, or Canada. No agencies. Seriously. You’ll just waste your time and ours. We won’t look at your work. We won’t read your cover letter. Why? Because we need candidates who are available during US business hours and because we hire our full-time team members from our pool of contractors. Please don’t waste your time and ours.
